Go to the University Software Downloads page and download the "IBM SPSS Statistics" link under Microsoft Windows. Take note of where your web browser will download the .zip file so that you can access it after the download completes.

  • The University Software Downloads page is accessible through support.apu.edu but is also directly linked above.
  • The file you are downloading should be called "SPSS_Windows.zip"

  • After the file has completed downloading, you can launch the download by going to the Start Windows icon on the bottom left-hand side and click on "This PC"
  • Then, look at your "Downloads" folder in your Finder (or launch it from the download bar at the bottom of your screen if that is an option)
    • You can find "Downloads" by either by searching the word "File Explorer" or "Downloads" at the start icon, or click the file that was downloaded at the bottom of your browser (if available)
  • Launch the downloaded file "SPSS_Windows.zip" by double-clicking the file

  • After double-clicking the "SPSS_Windows.zip" file, the two files should appear as listed in the screenshot below

  • Open up "IBM_SPSS_STATISTICS_CLIENT" and there might be a pop up. You will have to extract all the files for the application to run properly and click "Extract" for the next pop up.
  • Make sure that "Show extracted files when complete" is checked

  • Once it's done downloading, go back to "Downloads" and double-click on the "SPSS_Windows" folder. Then click "IBM_SPSS_STATISTICS_CLIENT_64-BIT.exe"
    • Do not disregard "license key.txt" you will need to use it to activate the application

  • Once clicking on it, allow it to make changes to your computer in order to download.
  • This window would pop up, or you would have to click on the icon listed on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen that should be blinking
  • The icon at the bottom of the screen will look like this:

  • Continue to click "Next" and keep accepting all of the terms and licensing agreements until you click "install".
  • Once it finishes downloading, click "finish"
  • The Product Authorization will pop up and make sure the first option is chosen and click "Next"

  • Go back to the "downloads" and click on the "license key.txt"
  • After you have opened the "key.txt" folder, copy and paste the "License Key" number and paste it into the "Enter Code" field on the other window and click "Next"

  • Now you should see this!

  • After clicking "Next" the licensing process should be complete now and you can click "Finish" on the next window.
  • The process should be entirely complete now! If you do not see the SPSS application on your dock anymore just search for "IBM SPSS Statistics" in the search bar of the windows icon on the bottom left-hand side.
  • Look for the icon for "IBM SPSS Statistics" as shown below!
  • Do not try to use the "SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard" anymore because this is not the actual SPSS software.
  • Double-click "IBM SPSS Statistics" Application to launch!
