• Go to the University Software Downloads and download the "IBM SPSS Statistics" link. Take note of where your web browser will download the .zip file so that you can access it after the download completes.
• The University Software Downloads page is accessible through support.apu.edu but is also directly linked above.
• The file you are downloading should be called "SPSS_macOS.zip"
• After the file has completed downloading, you can launch the download by looking at your "Downloads" folder in your Finder (or launching it from the download bar at the bottom of your screen if that is an option)
  • You can do this either by Spotlight Searching the word "Downloads" or clicking "Go" and then clicking "Downloads" on your desktop toolbar.
• Launch the downloaded file "SPSS_macOS.zip" by double-clicking the file.

 

 

 

• After double-clicking "SPSS_macOS.zip" a folder titled "SPSS 25" should open above.

 

 

• Click on this file and then click the pkg that says "SPSSSC_30.0.0.0_Mac_OS.pkg" 
  • Do not disregard "license key.txt" you will need to use it

 

 

• When you open the .pkg file, the installer will open. 

 

 

• Your computer may ask for your permission to open the application since it is downloaded from the internet. Click "Open" to continue.
• Go through the steps in the installer.
• It will ask for you to agree to the Terms of Service to install.
• After this, your computer will ask for local password to begin the install.
  • You local password is the password that you use to log into your computer

 

 

• After entering your password the installer will load to install SPSS. Then this window will open.

 

 

• Click "IBM SPSS Statistics" to use the program.
• A window will pop up with an error asking for a license key. This is where the key.txt from earlier becomes important.
• Go to the license key.txt file and copy the first key it gives you.

 

 

• Click "Launch License Wizard" and a new window will open 

 

 

• Of the two options, select "Authorized user license (I have purchased a single copy of the product)".
• A new window will appear prompting you to input the license key you copied earlier.

 

 

• Enter the code in the yellow box and click the "Add" button. The code should drop down into the empty box to show it was added.
• Go through the steps by clicking "Next" in the bottom right.
• Once it gets to the last page, click "Finish".
• Restart the program.

 

 

• Once the application restarts, the license key will be in effect and you will be able to use the program!
