APU VPN Installation Instructions

Installation

In your web browser, go to https://vpn.apu.edu and login with your APU credentials.

 

 

Select the download option for your client Operating System. This will download FortiClient to your computer. Open the installer and complete the installation. Once the installation is complete, it is recommended that you restart your computer.

 

Configuration

Open FortiClient VPN and click on Configure VPN.

 

 

Below are the settings needed to configure your APU VPN connection in FortiClient VPN. Once you enter the information below, click Save to complete the configuration.

If you are on Windows and the settings above do not work, please try just checking the "Enable Single Sign On" box as shown below.

 

Using VPN

To use the FortiClient VPN, open FortiClient and click on SAML Login. (PLEASE NOTE: FortiClient VPN will only work when you are not on APU’s network. For example, it will work from home, but it will not work while you are connected to APU’s network while on campus.)

 

 

Once you click SAML Login, you will need to enter your APU credentials and your CougarLock code. Once this is done, you will be connected to APU VPN and will be able to access APU resources just like you were connected to APU’s network while working on campus.

 

Troubleshooting/Getting Help

  • The first step to try when you are having issues with the FortiClient VPN is to restart your computer.
  • Double check the settings for the FortiClient VPN configuration (image above)
