ACTIVE PHISHING Attack December 18, 2020
Many people around campus are receiving emails that appear to be coming from the Support Center. These are scam emails, if you clicked on the link and entered your APU username and password, please change your password immediately.
Around the world, over 100 billion spam messages are sent daily, and on average half of all Internet email addresses will receive at least one spam/phishing message each day.
IMT employs a variety of tools to stop spam and phishing emails, but invariably some get through. This article contains examples of current spam/phishing emails for your reference.
Never click on the links in these emails, open attachments, or reply. You can forward a copy of the message to spam@apu.edu. Forwarding these messages to IMT in this manner helps us improve the tools that stop these messages.

In this email, notice that the FROM portion says it is from support@apu.edu however, the actual name of the email is a personal email address. Always check emails to confirm that the name links up with a legitimate email address.
