How to forward your APU emails to a personal account

 

Forwarding APU emails

 

1) Access your Gmail settings

 

 

2) Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP Tab. Under the Forwarding section, click “Add a forwarding address”

 

 

3) You will be prompted to add an email address, type in whichever you want and click Next

 

 

4) You will be prompted to confirm that the address is accurate, once you have done so, click “Proceed”

 

 

5) The default setting is to disable forwarding, make sure you select the dot in front of the “Forward a copy of incoming mail to” option, as well as specifying what to do with the original email which was forwarded. Once you are done with that, be sure to save changes at the bottom of the page

 

 

If you use a personal Gmail account, and you don’t want to have to go to the trouble of checking both your APU and your Gmail account, you can set it up so that your Gmail account can send emails as though it is coming from your APU account. This is important for School of Nursing students that are required to communicate with their faculty using only their apu.edu email addresses. Here is how you set this up:

 

1) Access your Gmail settings

 

 

2) Go to your Accounts tab, and find the “Send mail as” section. Click the blue “Add another email address you own” option

 

 

3) You will be prompted to add the Name and Email address, once you have done so, click “Next Step”

 

 

4) You will be prompted to verify and send

 

 

5) You will have to log into the email address you entered, and either click the link provided, or enter the verification code provided in the email in order to verify your access to the account

 

 

6) To do this log into the email address you are giving access to, and you will have an email that looks like this

 

 

7) Open it and locate either the Confirmation code, or the confirmation link - either will work

 

 

8) You can then go to your Accounts tab in your settings, and under the “Send mail as” option choose to delete a previously added account, as well as change a couple settings, including what to do when replying to a message. If you have made changes, be sure to save them at the bottom of the screen
