How to work with Canned Responses

1) Access settings

 

2) Go to the Labs tab, scroll down to the “Canned Responses” lab and enable it, if it is not already enabled, use the “Search for a lab” box to find it and enable it

 

3) Once you have it enabled, click compose to open a new email. Note: whatever you have written in the mail dialogue box will become the canned response you are creating.

Click the drop down arrow next to the “delete” garbage can, with will bring up a dropdown list, one of the options will be “Canned responses” hover over that and your canned responses will open, click “New canned response…”

 

4) You will be prompted to name your new canned response

 

5) There are three options (in light grey writing) which are followed by the names of canned responses, under the “Canned responses” list. Insert, Save, and Delete.

-Insert will insert the selected response into the email where you cursor is currently located.

-Save will save the current text in the email as an update for the selected canned response, effectively replacing it (click the “New canned response…” button to make a new one and not replace an old one)

-Delete will delete an already created canned response
